Section 7 Land Registration Law (LRL) Lagos State 2015

Section 7 of the Land Registration Law (LRL) Lagos State 2015 provides as follows:

Any person, who has power to assign or is entitled in law or equity to any land, may apply to be registered as the land holder. However, the Registrar shall not register any Power of Attorney relating to transfer of land on which the consent of the Governor has not been endorsed.

    Good afternoon, sir.
    Please does it mean that a Donee must first obtain a deed of assignment or conveyance from the Donor which must have been registered and consent of the governor obtained before a power of attorney can validly convey interest in land in Lagos state.

    I will appreciate your kind assistance in explaining further on this section.

    It means a donee cannot execute a deed of assignment or conveyance on behalf of the donor except the Power of Attorney given to him by the donor has the governor’s consent and is registered.
    Only then can interest in land be validly conveyed.
