Section 57 Indian Penal Code

Section 57 of the Indian Penal Code 1860 is about  Fractions of terms of punishment. It is under CHAPTER III (OF PUNISHMENTS) of the Code.

 Fractions of terms of punishment

In calculating fractions of terms of punishment, ¹ [imprisonment] for life shall be reckoned as equivalent to⁵⁷ [imprisonment] for twenty years.
