Section 254 Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) Lagos

Section 254 Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, as amended in 2021, is about Information by private person. It provides as follows:

The Chief Registrar of the High Court shall receive an information from a private person if—

(a) it has endorsed on a certificate by a Law Officer to the effect that he has seen such information and declines to prosecute at the public instance the offence contained in the information; and

(b) such private person has entered into a recognisance in the sum of Fifty Thousand Naira (N=50,000.00) together with one surety to be approved by the Chief Registrar in the like sum, to prosecute the information to conclusion and to pay such costs as shall be ordered by the Court, or, in lieu of entering
into such recognisance, to deposit the said sum in Court to abide by the same conditions.
