Section 245 Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) Lagos
Section 245 Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, as amended in 2021, is about Notes of evidence to be taken. It provides as follows:
(1) The Court shall in every case take notes in writing of the oral evidence, as it considers material, in a book to be kept for that purpose and such book shall be signed by the Judge or Magistrate at the conclusion of each day’s proceedings.
(2) No person shall be entitled, as of right, to inspection of or to a copy of the record so kept as mentioned except as may be expressly provided for by the rules.
(3) The record so kept as the case may be or a copy purporting to be signed and certified as a true copy by the Judge or Magistrate shall at all times, without further proof, be admitted as evidence of such proceedings and of the statements made by the witnesses.
