Section 23A Legal Practitioners Act

Section 23A of Legal Practitioners Act 1975 is about Exclusion of Civil Proceedings. It is under ‘General.‘ of the sections of the Act. It provides as follows:

1. No person shall commence or maintain as action or any legal proceedings whatsoever relating to, connected with or arising from— a the management of the affairs of the Association; or b the exercise or preparation by the Body of Benchers for the exercise of the powers conferred upon it by this Act.

2. Any action of the type mentioned in subsection (1) of this section which, prior to the commencement of this section is pending in any court as well as any such action which may be brought by any person after the commencement of this section against the Body of Benchers, a Caretaker Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, or any officer or member or committee of members of the Body Benchers, shall abate, be made null and void and of no effect whatsoever.
