Section 116 Nigeria Police Act

Section 116 of the Nigeria Police Act 2020 is about Objectives of Community Policing Committees. It is under Part XIV (Community Policing Committee) of the Act. It provides as follows:

(1) The objectives of the Committees are to–
(a) maintain a partnership between the community and the Police Force ;
(b) promote communication between the Police Force and the community ;
(c) promote co-operation between the Police and the community in fulfilling the needs of the community regarding policing ;

(d) improve the police service to the community ; and
(e) improve transparency and accountability in the provision of police services to the community.

(2) This section does not prevent police liaison with the community by means other than Po) icing Committee, Sub-Policing Committee and Divisional Policing Commimee.
