Rule 59 Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners

Rule 59 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners (RPC) 2023 is about Obligations of NBAAMLC. It is under Part II (Obligation of Legal Practitioners in Relation to Anti-money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism) of Chapter 2 (Guidelines and Rules on Anti-money Laundering and Combating Financing of Terrorism for Legal Practitioners) of the Rules. It provides as follows:

(1) Nigerian Bar Association Anti-Money Laundering Committee (NBAAMLC) may solely undertake compliance examination of law firms on a risk-based approach and the reports of such examination shall be forwarded to
the Special Control Unit against Money Laundering (SCUML).

(2) The examination template shall be developed by the NBAAMLC.
