Rule 38 Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners
Rule 38 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners (RPC) 2023 is about Lawyer for an indigent accused. It is under Part IV (Relations with the court) of Chapter 1 (Conduct) of the Rules. It provides as follows:
A lawyer assigned to defend an indigent accused shall not ask to be excused except for substantial reason, but shall exert his best effort in the defence of the accused.
