Order 21 Supreme Court Rules

Order 21 of the Supreme Court Rules 2024 is about Vacation. It contains the following rules:

Order 21 Rule 1 Supreme Court Rules 2024 – Annual vacation of the Court

The Court shall proceed on an annual vacation for a period not less than eight (8) weeks between July and September of each year, as the Chief Justice may by Notice direct.

Order 21 Rule 2 Supreme Court Rules 2024 – Chief Justice’s directive on Court sitting

The Court shall not sit during Easter, Islamic holiday or Christmas recess, except where the Chief Justice otherwise directs.

Order 21 Rule 3 Supreme Court Rules 2024 – Court sitting during vacation

The Chief Justice may constitute a panel(s) of the Court to sit during annual vacation to hear and determine any urgent matter.

Order 21 Rule 4 Supreme Court Rules 2024 – Time to file briefs does not run during vacation

Except as applicable in Rule 3 above, the time for the filing of brief of argument shall not run during the period of annual vacation.
