Section 29 Offensive Weapons Act 2019
Section 29 of the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 is about
Offence of breaching knife crime prevention order etc. It provides as follows:
(1)A person commits an offence if, without reasonable excuse, the person breaches a knife crime prevention order or an interim knife crime prevention order.
(2)A person guilty of an offence under subsection (1) is liable—
(a)on summary conviction, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding the general limit in a magistrates’ court], to a fine or to both;
(b)on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years, to a fine or to both.
(3)In relation to an offence committed before May 2022 the reference in subsection (2)(a) to the general limit in a magistrates’ court] is to be read as a reference to 6 months.
(4)Where a person is convicted of an offence under this section, it is not open to the court by or before which the person is convicted to make, in respect of the offence, an order for conditional discharge.
