Section 32 Patents and Designs Act 1971
Section 32 of the Patents and Designs Act 1971 is about Interpretation. It provides as follows:
(1) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires–
“court” means the Federal High Court;
“design” means an industrial design;
“design application” means an application for the registration of an industrial design;
“design owner” means the registered owner of an industrial design;
“foreign priority” has the meaning assigned by section 27 of this Act;
“import” means import into Nigeria;
“the Minister”, except in Part II of the First Schedule to this Act, means the Minister
for Commerce;
“patent application” means an application for the grant of a patent;
“patentee” means a person to whom a patent has been granted;
“register” means the register of patents, the register of industrial designs, or both, as
the case may require;
“registrar” means the registrar of patents and designs.
(2) In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, a reference to a numbered section or schedule is a reference to the section or schedule so numbered in this Act.
