Section 314 Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) Lagos

Section 314 Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, as amended in 2021, is about Consecutive sentences of imprisonment. It provides as follows:

Where a sentence of imprisonment is passed on any person by a Court, the Court may order that the sentence shall commence at the expiration of any other term of imprisonment to which that person has been previously sentenced by any competent Court in Nigeria. Where two or more sentences passed by a Magistrates’ Court are ordered to run consecutively, the aggregate term of imprisonment shall not exceed four years or the limit of jurisdiction of the adjudicating Magistrate whichever is greater.
