Section 118 Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) Lagos
Section 118 Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, as amended in 2021, is about Sureties. It provides as follows:
(1) A defendant admitted to bail may be required to produce such surety or sureties as, in the opinion of the Court admitting him to bail, will be sufficient to ensure his appearance as and when required and shall with him or them enter into a recognizance accordingly.
(2) The Court shall make direction and impose conditions it deems necessary to ensure that the identity, residence and status of surety is properly verified.
(3) No person shall be denied or prevented or restricted from entering into any recognisance or standing as surety or providing any security on the ground that the person is a woman.
