Section 27 Administration of Criminal Justice Law (ACJL) Lagos

Section 27 Administration of Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State, as amended in 2021, is about Procedure for execution of warrant. It provides as follows:

(1) Every warrant of arrest may be executed on any day including a Sunday or public holiday.

(2) Every warrant may be executed by a Police Officer at any time and in any place other than in a Court room in the State.

(3) The person executing the warrant shall, before making the arrest, inform the person to be arrested that there is a warrant for his arrest unless there is reasonable cause for abstaining from giving such information on the grounds that it is likely to occasion escape, resistance, or rescue.

(4) Every person arrested on the warrant shall, subject to the provisions of sections 29 and 30 of this Law be brought before the Court which issued the warrant within a reasonable time after he is so arrested.
