Section 79 Matrimonial Causes Act 1970
Section 79 of the Matrimonial Causes Act 1970 is about Appellate jurisdiction and powers. It provides as follows:
The court hearing an appeal under this Part-
(a) is hereby invested with the necessary jurisdiction;
(b) may confirm, vary or reverse any decree, judgment, order or other determination appealed from, order a rehearing or make such other order as it considers proper to determine the real issue of the appeal; and
(c) subject to this Part, shall otherwise have the same powers as it has in its ordinary appellate jurisdiction in civil proceedings.
