Section 266 Investments and Securities Act
Section 266 of the Investments and Securities Act 2025 is about Liability for depositing commodities with defective title. It is under Part XV (Commodities Exchange and Warehouse Receipts) of the Act. It provides as follows:
A person who deposits with a warehouse operator registered under this Act, stolen commodities, or commodities to which he has no title, or upon which there is an undisclosed lien or mortgage, commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of not less than N5,000,000 or imprisonment for a term not more than two years or both.
