Section 262 Investments and Securities Act

Section 262 of the Investments and Securities Act 2025 is about Liability for loss or injury to commodities. It is under Part XV (Commodities Exchange and Warehouse Receipts) of the Act. It provides as follows:

Except for unavoidable damages, reasonable wear and tear, or deterioration associated with the nature and type of the commodities and mode of storage, and other exemptions provided under this Act and the rules and regulations made under it, a warehouse operator is liable in damages for loss of, or injury to the commodities caused by the warehouse operator’s failure to exercise due and reasonable care as circumstances may demand.
