Section 72 Nigeria Police Act

Section 72 of the Nigeria Police Act 2020 is about Form and requisites of warrant of arrest. It is under Part VIII (Warrants) of the Act. It provides as follows:

(1) A warrant of arrest issued under this Act, unless the contrary is provided under any other law, shall-
( a) bear the date of issue ;
(b) contain all necessary particulars ; and
(c) be signed by the issuing judge or magistrate.

(2) A warrant shall-
(a) state the offence or matter for which it is issued ;
(b) name and describe the suspect to be arrested ; and
(c) order the person to whom it is directed to arrest the suspect and bring him before the court.
