Rule 54 Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners

Rule 54 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners (RPC) 2023 is about Offer of compensation or gift by the other party. It is under Part VI (Remuneration and Fees) of Chapter 1 (Conduct) of the Rules. It provides as follows:

A lawyer shall not accept any compensation, rebate, commission, gift or other advantage from or on behalf of the opposing party except with the full knowledge and consent of his client after full disclosure.
